3, 2, 1… production restarts: What really happens before the start of a new industrial year
Every new industrial year seems to begin the same way:
lights turning on, lines starting, plants becoming operational again.
But the real restart does not happen on the first working day.
It happens in the weeks before.
During the holidays, while many activities slow down, the maintenance world remains operational.
These are less visible days, but among the most important of the production year.
This is where the stability of the coming months is built.
The factory’s quiet weeks
When production stops, for the first time in months the plants become fully accessible.
It is the moment when activities impossible during normal operation can be carried out:
in-depth system inspections
preventive maintenance
replacement of at-risk components
parameter and software updates
safety checks
technical cleaning and calibrations
The goal is not to fix something that has broken.
It is to prevent it from breaking.
The real test comes at restart
The most delicate moment is not the shutdown.
It is the restart.
A plant restarting after a pause must immediately regain:
system synchronization
control stability
correct operating sequences
consistent process parameters
For those working in maintenance, the start of the year is similar to a final exam.
After weeks of preparatory activities, one question always remains:
will everything work as expected?
Why maintenance determines January efficiency
Many micro-stoppages occurring in the first days of the year are not random.
They are the consequence of what was not done beforehand.
Structured maintenance instead enables:
faster start-ups
fewer initial anomalies
greater operational safety
production stability in the first weeks
In practice, January productivity is decided in December.
The invisible work of industry
Much of industrial efficiency is not created while the line is producing.
It is created when the line is stopped.
It is silent work, often far from daily attention, yet decisive for operational continuity.
Those working in maintenance know the objective is not to intervene quickly after a problem,
but to make sure the problem never arrives.
Restarting prepared
When plants switch the lines back on, production can truly restart:
safer
more efficient
more predictable
And this happens thanks to weeks of preparatory work.
Every industrial new year is not only an operational restart.
It is the concrete verification of technical planning.
Workplace safety: before talking about productivity, let’s talk about people
At the end of every year, balances are drawn.
Results, investments and industrial plans are analyzed.
But before looking to the future, there is a reality that cannot be ignored.
Even in 2025, work in Italy continues to be the scene of serious accidents and preventable tragedies.
They are not abstract numbers: they are people who did not return home.
Year-end shutdowns: why maintenance during the holidays is crucial for the industrial year
During the holiday period the country slows down.
Offices closed, reduced production, lines stopped.
But for those working in industrial maintenance this is one of the most important moments of the year.
It is not the time for emergencies.
It is the time for prevention.
Precisely when the machines stop, the work begins that will allow them to start again.
📢 More space, more expertise, more value for customers
The E-Repair team is pleased to announce that, starting from January 1, 2026, our new, larger, more modern, and efficient headquarters will be fully operational.
This decision marks a strategic step that will allow us to continue growing and improving the support we offer our clients, further consolidating our position as a reliable partner in industrial electronic maintenance and regeneration.
Circular economy in Italy: excellence in numbers, fragility in critical supply chains
Italy is often cited as a European model of circular economy.
The most recent data confirms it: our country reaches a circular material use rate of 21.6%, well above the European average of 12.2%.
A result that does not come by chance, but from a historical characteristic of Italian manufacturing:
👉 turning resource scarcity into industrial efficiency.
Recycling, recovering and reusing has not been only an environmental goal for Italian industry, but a production necessity.
Yet precisely these excellent figures highlight a critical point:
without strengthening the most complex supply chains — plastics and electronics — the model risks becoming fragile in the medium term.
🔍 When Customer Data Meets E-Repair’s Operational Response!
In today’s industrial landscape, technological evolution has led companies to shift their focus from simple reactive maintenance to predictive maintenance—a system based on the analysis of real operational data from industrial plants. By using sensors that monitor parameters such as vibrations, temperatures, currents, production cycles, and process anomalies, companies are now able to anticipate failures and act promptly, avoiding downtime and optimizing performance.
🌱 Sustainability and Maintenance in the Construction Sector: Strategies for a More Efficient Industry
Sustainability is becoming a key concept in the construction industry, not only in terms of material selection but also across production processes. At MADE Expo 2025 🌍, this concept emerged strongly, outlining a clear vision: a future in which construction production is increasingly oriented toward efficiency and sustainability. However, the real challenge is not only the adoption of new eco-friendly materials, but also the maintenance of plants and infrastructures 🔧.
In a high energy-intensity sector ⚡ with complex production processes 🏭, ensuring operational continuity is crucial. Industrial maintenance plays a fundamental role in keeping production lines reliable, safe, and constantly available, reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency 📈.
🔧 Improvement Maintenance: when repairing is not enough, evolution is required
In the industrial world, we are used to thinking of maintenance as an action to be taken when something breaks down. If a component fails, we rush to fix it and get the machine running again. However, improvement maintenance goes far beyond this. It does not simply stop the failure, but goes a step further: it deliberately enhances plant performance, reducing the risk of future issues and optimizing processes.
💊 Human Health and Plant Health: Preventing “Electronic Colds”
With the arrival of autumn and changes in temperature, prevention becomes a priority not only for human health, but also for the health of industrial plants. In sectors such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and other industries where any machine downtime can compromise quality, safety, and productivity, preventing failures and malfunctions is essential.
Among the most common issues affecting industrial plants are so-called “electronic colds,” which appear as minor electronic faults that slow down and, in some cases, stop the entire production process. But how can these failures be prevented and operational continuity ensured? The answer lies in preventive maintenance and the modern solutions offered by E-Repair.
📈 A quarter with mild growth, but with signals that need interpretation
The +1.1% recorded in the third quarter by UCIMU – Sistemi per Produrre is not just a statistical figure: it is a signal.
A signal of fragile stability, in a sector that continues to move at two very different speeds:
Domestic market showing a strong rebound (+12.4%)
Weak foreign demand, slowed down by structural uncertainties
Automotive sector still affected by technological and regulatory transitions
In other words: Italian industry is reacting, but external demand has not yet returned.
🎃 Trick or Treat? 🎃
For food companies that produce seasonal sweets for holidays like Halloween, every sudden breakdown is like a trick that can disrupt production. 😱
During the holidays, especially those tied to the production of sweets or food for special occasions, there is no time to waste. Any interruption in the production flow can mean lost time, money, and resources. That’s why it’s essential to have a reliable partner to tackle and resolve breakdowns smoothly.
The European Chips Act was created with a clear goal: to reduce Europe's dependency on non-EU suppliers in the semiconductor sector and strengthen the continent's technological sovereignty. An ambitious plan that aims not only at production capacity but also at the strategic resilience of the European electronic supply chain.
